Drugstore picks I’m happy I’ve found

I went into Target for paper towels. Just paper towels. Obviously, I left with this fixing spray, foundation, some yoga pants, a few pajama shorts from the clearance rack, and paper towels. I don’t know what kind of mind warp you enter when you walk into Target- but it’s effective. The mind warp led me to these two products, and I’m in love.

Pixi Mist & L’Oreal Foundation

L’Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation – $8.59

Give me all the dew. In my day to day life, I want to look “lit from within” and somewhere in between healthy skin and like I just finished a 3 mile jog.  I love my Lumi Cushion, but wanted to try a foundation that has a tiny bit more coverage, but doesn’t compromise my glow. The True Match Lumi Liquid foundation gets the job done.

Although this range is praised for having a large shade range (16 shades!!!!!) I still had some trouble finding my match. I settled on N3, and it is much lighter than my N4 Lumi cushion- but I am able to mix it with a slightly darker foundation to get my perfect color.

In the picture above, I had slightly sheered out a little bit of foundation on the left, and it does provide a beautiful glow.

A few more thoughts:

  • This can really be built up to a full coverage
  • I would make sure to start with a really moisturized face- although this is a dewy product…it has clung to dry patches
  • If you have oily skin… I would stay farrrrr away
  • Anything you put on top of this foundation sits beautifully on top!

Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist – $15.00

I am such a fan of this misting spray! I think the water itself is amazing…but the actual quality of the spray- is just ok. This nozzle does not compare to the fine mist of MAC FIX + or any Urban Decay setting sprays.

I was looking for a drugstore mist that would feel good on my skin, and set my makeup in place for the whole day. I purchased NYX’s Dewy Finish spray and although it delivered in their claim of “dewiness” it was so sticky once it dried down. Pixi’s Makeup Fixing Mist delivered in both the dew, longevity, and none of the stickiness.

Pixi has five mists total in their “mist” range and I cannot wait to try all of them. The other four are: a glow mist, hydrating milky mist, sun mist, and vitamin wake up mist.

A few more thoughts:

  • The packaging is adorable. It makes me happy to open this up and use it every day
  • This product does separate so make sure to shake it up before use
  • I get that $15.00 is a bit much for something from Target… The Pixi mist is 2.7 oz, Urban Decay’s All Nighter is $31.00 for 4 oz, and MAC FIX + is $24.00 for 3.4 oz. This spray is right in that strange place in between drugstore and higher end.
  •  I love the smell of the product it has rose water and green tea… and a bunch of other chemicals but still- it feels somewhat natural.

I was so excited to share my thoughts, and I know these aren’t the newest and shiniest products but they’re solid standbys in the drug store.

Happy happy Wednesday!
